HORSEGRAM/HURULI KAALU PALYA

Ingredients:
Horse Gram/Hurulikalu - 1 cup
Onion - 1
Green chillies - 2
Salt - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
grated coconut - 1/4 cup
coriander leaves
curry leaves
lime/lemon - 1/2
turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
water - 4 cups
oil - 2 tbsp

Method of Preparation:
Wash horse gram and pressure cook till soft with enough water.[3 whistles ]
Note: Use cooked water/stock to make horse gram rasam

Heat oil in a vessel. When its hot add the mustard seeds. once they splutter, add curry leaves, chopped onion, green chillies, salt, turmeric powder and saute well.
Now, add the cooked horse gram and mix well. Adjust the salt.
Garnish with coconut and coriander leaves. Add lemon juice and mix.

Serve with horse gram rasam and rice. This goes well with ragi/jowar mudde.
